DEBRA-KUEMPEL SCOPE OF WORK
- With our sister company DeBra-Kuempel, The Poole and Kent Corporation provided operation, facilities preventative maintenance, and remedial maintenance for the 375,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Zahl Physical Sciences Laboratory.
- Under the direction of the Army, we provided facilities maintenance for all mechanical systems (building HVAC and energy systems), electrical systems, toxic gas handling and monitoring systems, acid and heavy metal waste recovery systems, life safety and security systems and all specialty systems.
ZAHL PHYSICAL SCIENCES FACILITY BACKGROUND
The effectiveness of our modern military force is based on keeping them many steps ahead of any potential adversity. The Adelphi Facility is a critical element in providing our military with the technological edge. If it can be measured, the scientists at the Zahl Physical Sciences Laboratory will attempt to apply it to a useable device that has and will continue to keep us decades ahead of our enemies.
FACILITIES MAINTENANCE & SERVICES OBJECTIVES
We worked to sustain the operation of the crucial work performed by the U.S. Army at the Zahl Physical Sciences Facility. The laboratory located at the facility is an integral part of the Military consolidation of bases and redundant facilities. The Zahl Laboratory performs cutting edge research in sensors, batteries and microelectronics devices that will become part of existing and future weapons and detection systems used by the United States military. In 2002, an effort was made to privatize the Facilities Operation and Maintenance. Since 2002, we have been successfully maintaining, operating and upgrading the facility to meet the everchanging needs of the U.S. Army and their research scientist.
FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SOLUTIONS
The DeBra-Kuempel/The Poole and Kent Corporation Joint Venture brought together the best elements of both EMCOR companies. DeBra-Kuempel brought their years of experience with facilities maintenance and The Poole and Kent Corporation, as the mechanical contractor on the initial construction of the Physical Sciences Laboratory, brought an intimate knowledge of the facility and all the operating systems along with the semiconductor facilities operation and maintenance. This translated into a quick and effective transition from the Government Facilities Group to our professional and efficient approach to this type of O&M Contract. The DK/PK JV not only brought a highly motivated and trained group to implement the contract but also was able to provide in-house general mechanical and electrical contracting ability to deal with a myriad of changes and upgrades to the facility.
